What can we expect from the Viking Mira?
The Viking Mira falls under the cruise line’s small ship and ocean cruise segment. The vessel will offer itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Its inaugural sailing itinerary is scheduled to be an eight-day voyage from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Barcelona (Spain) departing on 5 June 2026.
“We are delighted to welcome the Viking Mira to our elegant fleet of small sister ships… our guests are curious travellers, and the arrival of a new ship allows us to offer them even more opportunities to explore the world in Viking comfort,” said Leah Talactac, President and CEO of Viking.

What’s next for Viking?
Viking are expected to have 114 river ships in 2028, as well as 26 ocean and expedition ships in 2031. To break it down, that’s 24 brand new river ships. As well as nine new ocean ships with two expedition ships also set to be built.
The Viking Mira has been designed with the future in mind so it can be retrofitted to incorporate new technologies as they become available. This is great news as the cruise line looks to introduce next-generation propulsion technologies with its next ocean ship. The Viking Libra – the world’s first hydrogen-powered ship, which will operate with zero emissions. Currently under construction, the Viking Libra is expected to be completed in November of this year. The Viking Astrea is scheduled for delivery in 2027 and will also be hydrogen-powered.
